Over the past few years, Flip The Streets has transformed walls and community spaces across Swansea, celebrating community, creativity and connection. Creating vibrant public artworks that celebrate the people, stories and especially the identities of the communities they represent. Now these projects are coming together in one exhibition at Volcano Theatre in Swansea. The Exhibiton also offers visitors the chance to reflect on the journey, the creative process and the lasting impact these murals have had across the city.
The exhibition brings together all nine Flip the Streets projects that have taken place across Swansea. Through a collection of photographs, artwork and community reflections, it tells the story behind each mural. From the first conversations and creative workshops to the finished pieces that have undoubtedly become part of Swansea’s streetscape.
Impact
At the heart of every project has been a simple but powerful idea. Communities should have the opportunity to shape the places where they live and have fun celebrating community, creativity and connection. Every mural represents the voices, experiences and aspirations of local people. Created through collaboration with schools, youth groups, community organisations, university students and residents.
Fresh Creative has been proud to play a significant role in bringing these ideas to life. Working alongside participants throughout the creative process, our team has helped transform stories, values and identities into meaningful public artworks. By encouraging people to share their experiences and explore their creativity, we’ve unquestionably supported communities in creating something both deeply personal and permanently visible.
These murals are much more than public art. They are symbols of belonging, collaboration and local pride, showing what can happen when communities are given the space, confidence and support to tell their own stories. They leave a legacy that continues to inspire everyone who passes by.
