Celebrating Welsh Women’s Football

We were thrilled to collaborate with the Football Association of Wales on a series of projects celebrating the women’s football team ahead of EWRO 2025. These projects combined team pride, local identity, and community engagement, resulting in vibrant works that inspire players and fans alike.

EWRO 2025 Boards

The first project involved two 8ft x 8ft mural boards at the Humphrey Lane workshop, designed to capture the energy and spirit of the Wales Women’s football team. Mark painted the boards using spray paint and sticker stencils, while coordinating with Phil to ensure the design came together perfectly in just two days.

The design included:

Player names and numbers: Sophie Ingle (#4) and Lois Joel (#17)
Slogan in Welsh and English: “For Us. For Them. For Her.” / “Amdanom Ni. Amdanyn Nhw. Amdani Hi.”

Optional symbolic elements such as a young girl silhouette, friendship bracelets, and subtle local identifiers

The combination of careful stencil work, dynamic spray paint, and team collaboration ensured that every detail captured the pride and energy of Welsh women’s football.

A Community Mural at Gnoll Primary School

In addition to the workshop boards, the FAW also commissioned a community mural at Gnoll Primary School in Neath, painted by Mr Plob. This mural celebrates Welsh women’s football while incorporating local landmarks, creating a vibrant piece that connects students to their community and sport.

As part of the project, Mr Plob ran hands-on workshops with 20 school children, allowing them to contribute ideas and even participate in painting sections of the mural. This not only taught them artistic techniques but also inspired the next generation of players and creatives.

By combining professional mural work with community engagement, the FAW projects demonstrate how public art can celebrate local heritage, sports, and youth participation all at once.

Projects With Heart and Community Spirit

Both projects highlight the FAW’s commitment to celebrating Welsh women’s football and fostering community involvement. The Humphrey Lane boards honour current players and match-day pride, while the Gnoll Primary School mural engages young fans directly, giving them a sense of ownership and connection to the sport.

These initiatives remind us why we love working with the FAW: they value creativity, collaboration, and community impact, and the results speak for themselves.
