This project began with a long drive up north from Swansea to Nottingham — a journey that marked the start of one of our most meaningful mural commissions. The Oliver Hind Youth Club invited us to create a large-scale mural celebrating its history, diversity, and community spirit.
Painted across a 26-metre-long wall, the mural acts as a visual timeline. It captures the key milestones and values that define the club and the generations who’ve passed through its doors.
A Tribute in Colour and Storytelling
Each section of the mural highlights a different part of the club’s identity. The mural begins with a portrait of the founder and highlights the year the club was established.
One of the most powerful features is the club’s motto: “Do A Kindness Often.” The DAKO Flying Angels gymnastics team still proudly use this phrase to guide the club’s ethos today.
To anchor the visuals, we created large areas of rich blue across the wall. These bold backgrounds help the silhouettes, lettering, and key moments stand out clearly, bringing rhythm and clarity to the timeline.
A Community-Centred Project
The finished piece now serves as a lasting tribute — a bold reminder of kindness, dedication, and the power of youth-led spaces in shaping futures.
